Built to be usable, honestly described.
QuickDesk is a tool people use all day, so it has to work with a keyboard, with a screen reader, at a large text size and on a small screen. This page says what we have done about that, and what we have not done yet.
What we aim for
We build against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That is the target we design and review to. It is not a certification, and we have not been independently audited — see below.
What is in place
- Every page can be reached and used with a keyboard alone, and the item you are on is always visibly outlined.
- A “Skip to main content” link is the first thing you reach on every page.
- Dialogs take focus when they open, give it back when they close, and can be dismissed with the Escape key.
- Form fields have real labels, and when something is wrong the message appears beside the field it belongs to.
- Colour is never the only way something is indicated, and text contrast is checked against the AA thresholds.
- The desk reflows to a single column on a phone and at large zoom levels, without side-to-side scrolling.
How we check
An automated accessibility scan runs against 17 pages of the site and the desk every time we release — the marketing and legal pages, sign-in, the tickets console, tasks, billing, and the settings screens. A release does not ship if that scan finds a violation.
What we have not done
Being straight about this matters more than a badge, because these are the gaps most likely to affect you:
- We have not had an independent accessibility audit. Nobody outside QuickDesk has assessed this product.
- We have not completed manual screen reader testing across the whole desk. Automated tools cannot tell whether a page actually makes sense when read aloud, and only a person using one can.
- We therefore do not claim conformance with WCAG 2.2 AA, and we cannot yet supply a completed accessibility conformance report.
If you need any of that for a procurement process, tell us before you buy and we will tell you honestly where we are.
Tell us when we get it wrong
If something here is hard or impossible for you to use, please email support@quickdesk.co.uk and say what you were trying to do, what got in the way, and what you use to browse. We would rather hear it than not.
We treat an accessibility barrier as a fault, not a feature request. Our support policy covers how quickly we aim to come back to you.
